Shark Fishing
Shark fishing in Islamorada is one of the most consistent and predictable fishing opportunities we have, and is a favorite with my guests! Shark fishing is all about having great bait. Typically I have the bait already, sometimes we’ll have to catch bait like ladyfish or jacks.
We can fish these sharks anywhere, oftentimes we are fishing channels but we can set up on a wide variety of structures for them. We will typically chum the sharks up, and are almost exclusively fishing dead bait for them.
It’s not uncommon to catch 10 a day, the question is in your endurance! We can see many sharks in the 6-10 foot range which will test anyone’s strength. The typical species we see are Lemon Sharks, Bull Sharks, Blacktip Sharks, and Bonnethead Sharks.
Target Species
We can target sharks successfully year round. Common species include Lemon Sharks, Bull Sharks, Blacktip Sharks, and Bonnethead Sharks.
Where We Fish
I will customize the trip to your group’s goals. How far we go will all depend on the weather, your group’s goals for the day, and where the fish are biting. We can run trips a few miles away all the way to 25-30 minutes away, I’m not afraid to burn some gas if you want to get after it!
